I Only used Anti Scuff paste, on what the info suggests, on my Fairey overdrive, but at the end of the day, its up to you.

Thing is, I don't know enough about the stuff to be 100% certain. I did, however, think that a very thin film (as in basically invisible - nothing that would appear to drag on a roller) would not be likely to cause much trouble and I've been curious to know if at the micro-level it might reduce friction marginally on the shaft surface whilst the oil, rollers etc still did their usual thing. I reassembled the overdrive yesterday and put it back in the vehicle this afternoon. Will have a drive tomorrow to see how it goes.
Went for a trundle for a handful of miles today. Mostly hilly, winding stuff so not many opportunities to engage the overdrive, but when I did it all seemed fine. Mind you, it ran alright before. I'm just happier now, having got the Rocol onto those splines for the input gear.
Today I took the Landy out for a longer run; a half hour or so on open(ish) roads. Cruising at 44mph, the overdrive's temp ran in the low seventies, which seems to be par. At least I think it was the low seventies: at those sorts of speeds there's not much time for glancing at gauges.....
The overdrive is as noisy as ever when engaged, but it is at least peace of mind to have checked it over after running in following the rebuild (and of course getting that paste on those splines).
Another little mod which I don't think I've mentioned is the dipstick. I don't know about anybody else, but I have always found that stupid little round, notched dipstick for the Fairey very hard to read. A while back, I had a nice bit of flat steel brazed onto a dipstick bolt and now I have an easy-to read dipstick. I did make it longer than standard, but in the end cut it short as the curvature of the old housing (some of the lower part of which still exists within the extended sump) kind of blocks using a longer dipstick. I don't seem to have a photo of it, but I'm sure it's not hard to picture.
I've had this overdrive since 1997, so it's done pretty good service. I have always liked it....except for the noise. My next stop might be to contact NASA. They must know a thing or two about soundproofing.
Just a little update.
After a bit more running, the overdrive does actually seem to be a bit quieter.
Or the rest of the vehicle is louder.
Or I am slighly more deaf.
Possibly a combination.

Good your overdrive is working out.
The last oil change I did, 800mls came out of my Superwinch OD.
Guess I now know, why the gearbox and transfer oil dropped.
Needed to top up same two a few months ago, OD was increasing again.
Well yesterday, on checking, all has settled. OD is happy with about 800 mls. Gearbox and Transfer just needed 50 mls each.
OD is quiet, but sound better with more oil.

I'd got the impression that this was more common, due to the inherent high temps and pressures in the overdrive and not much in the way of casing ventilation. One thing I did to mine, which seems to have really paid off, is a brass fitting for a breather pipe which runs up into the engine bay.

Only started after i added breathers.
At least better that way round.
Mine overdrive is nice and quiet. Got lucky.
