way back in the late 70's I made an adaptor plate to suit my S2A G/box and mated it to a 302 Ford V8, I never had any issues with the G/box and I ran 3.9 Rover car diff's, RR was an option back then but the cost was way beyond my means, these days they are as cheap as chips, cheers Dennis
My 2.25 petrol ser 3-- 88 runs 4:1 diff.
I was running 32 inch dia tyre and swapped to a 28 inch this week because Im fixing noise vibration. had axle lockups.
with the 235 85 16 [32 inch] tyres it would easy get to 100KMh and hold 110kmh. if you loose speed on a hill I have to wait till it dies down enough to use 3rd gear.
with the 235 75 15 -calculator shows 28 inch- sand tyres that came with the 88 it sounds to be reving more but it holds speed on hills.
I removed the original radiator fan last winter as the heater was struggling. Now you cant tell it was reving hard. I gained another factory blade I fitted a few weeks ago that looked newer and is very quiet. I can hear the in front radiator electric fan turn on quiet.
interesting that you removed the fan.
in the log that the previous owner kept for my car, there is a note saying 'must refit fan for summer'
and in talking with him when I was buying it he mentioned he took the fan off for winter.
it did come from northern nsw and where it does get cold in winter.

From memory the actual radiator was behind the engine on top of the gearbox, fan belt at the front of the engine and a countershaft through the head. For some strange reason it always ran cold, smoked a bit as well......

I use the rover to drive to work,20 minutes to Stroud, or drive around the farm.
ARVO is OK but mornings warming up is a struggle. I explored over the years block warmers are pre heaters.
I wanting to buy Radiator muff but my grill not the best looking and I want it to be covered. I am using hessian scraps from work behind the grill, when it is wet it restricts more. previously I wrapped it from the bonnet to the bumper allowing air in when stationary using staps.
The electric fan I use is a decent size and is enough with out the radiator fan. I refitted the fan in case I used it to tow a trailer or did some heavy work. I havnt got a fan cowl that fits. My preference if for a visco hub but not certain it would fit without moving the radiator forward.
Im on a coastal river from Port Stevens so low temperatures don't compare to new England or Bathurst. I don't get frost here due to the river just heavy fog.
I had a load of cooling system issues when I got the rover that ended with core plugs and cracked head.
2.25 head failure
