I only have to use choke now if is been sitting a few days. pumping the throttle didn't work. the engine wont fire if you hold open the throttle.

the original system works-you have to hold the throttle at half then pull out the knob as it wont come out due to the fast idle ramp.-once it has crank over and fires up ,stumbles a bit then revs up because the fast idle step is about 1200 rpm, the choke flap is pulled open and flicks off the choke cable.

To use the choke to warm up the engine you had to hold the knob at half way out as it would stall or flood. I cant pull out the choke once its running.

In the morning I put the hand throttle on the first notch. few months ago it was on the second. I have 2 intersections near the house, If I have to give way it would back fire when I pulled out the clutch [flat spot]. I don't need any if its in low range.

with ignition advanced it doesn't flat spot. im running manifold vac with a slight restriction on the dist advance. Datsun 200B port.

    Been running good..
brand of coolant has been an issue with constant leaks. green bubbles on thermostat housing joints and all hoses.
It doesn't get hot enough to cause me worry and ive not topped it up since I did the head. I ve swapped the fan wiring again so at 60 degree bottom hose the fan operates at low speed and 85 high speed. It only turns on when its stationary for a few minites. Im looking to fit a fan cowl again when I find one that fits.

I gained an engine and transmission.I fitted the fan blade that looked different to mine. it is four blade, X shape not a cross. blade has more pitch but runs silent.

engine from a ser 3. the blade was held on with modern flanged metric blots, mine had UNF. I screwed in the metric bolts and they self tapped the last turn. I tried to refit the UNF bolts into the spares water pump with no hope. something to watch for.
