Nothing better than the first time you can make it roll under its own power. Looks like the kids were as excited as you about that. :)

Just a few additions. I checked the alternator charge and it was sitting at 13.80v at idle, im thinking this isnt too bad.

Also, I have seen videos of people using the crank handle to start the engine. They put the handle in and turn it almost casually. When I tried, theres no way I can turn the engine like that and can definitely notice the compression on each turn. So I recon I got the head valve seat doing their job nicely, which is a bonus... unless something is amiss.

A lot of the look of effortless cranking is simply due to technique - you get both the engine and your body moving before the compression, so that you have momentum to help. A spot of grease on the bit of the handle bering on the hole in the bumper may help too.

In trying to understand the 1967 109, it gets a bit confusing given the year and some changes made over that time. Can some one confirm with me:

1) Brakes - it has the single link system? If so is it possible to put the later twin link system in? (for safety)
2) Brake size - are the drum brakes the larger 11" ones or are these upgraded usually?
3) No belts - is it possible to put lap belts (not ones bolted to pillars) and did they come out with that option?

You can install dual circuit brakes but you need a different master cylinder plus re-piping of course.

LWB have 11" brakes, the 6-cylinder LWB's had wider 11" brakes at the front.
You could add a booster when adding dual circuit brakes. May have to cut the top of the wing to get the LR one to fit or fit a PBR one inline & mount elsewhere.

What are the seatbelt regulations in TAS ? Brackets for the floor mounts by each door are readily available. The centre mounts you'll probably have to get from someone wrecking a vehicle (I have some pictures somewhere....)

Thanks Colin... I have since posting found more info on AULRO regarding the brake setups, pros and cons etc so that also helped.
