Great to meet you up there,, I'm sorry we didn't get to talk for longer. It seems although I spoke with many, a lot of people I wanted to meet with, I didn't get to for one reason or another.

I did get to meet up and chat for a short time with John (JDNSW),, awesome info he was readily willing to share. Hoping one day I can get to spend some real "tech time" with him.

I'm not sure I would refer to your trip as a "dash" though,,, it's a long way [bighmmm] The run would certainly have been good for her I think. Most motors appreciate a good long run.

I've been chasing a problem with the Wide Light since we got back from Cooma.
On the trip, the old girl never missed a beat, did everything with seeming ease,, well, except the Fwy stretches,, speeds just not her thing [bigwhistle]. But cruising up the Mountain in second gear,, element,, although I really do need to get onto the brakes [biggrin].

Since arriving back home though, I have only been able to start her two or three times whilst she's been parked up in the garage. That was a while ago now, and I've been trying all and sundry to get her running ever since. I've tried everything I know of,, points, plugs, leads etc etc etc. I've done static timing, as in, gone back to basics to see what I can find. Nothing, just cant get her to fire,, she turns over with no problems,, just no spark [bigsad]

Today, I decided I needed to get her sorted and going in readiness for the event we've got coming up in a couple of weeks.
Very patiently I have traced every wire, lead etc,,, nothing discovered initially [bigsad]
So, she is an old girl, and thus, one must assume,, "not all will be well",, so , recheck, again. Wiring is of course old and going hard and now heading towards being brittle. What I ended up finding was the wire that goes between the Dizzy and the Coil had broken at the coil end/clip, just the wire, not the plastic cover. This particular wire I don't think is actually all that old, as the wiring has been changed to suit an Alternator, replacing I assume the old Generator unit that it came with when new.
However, it goes to show, some problems need persistence, and I'm thinking that when we eventually do the ground up resto,, (no, I don't believe I'll be repainting [tonguewink]) I'll probably have to look at replacing the whole loom instead of the few "daggy" looking wires I was going to just replace.

Anyhow,, once the wire was fixed,, turn key,, woohoo,, sweet music to my ears.

I had exactly the same problem with the same wire
cut strip and fit new terminal and all good, I'm thinking when I get to electrics on my other cars I'm going to create a new loom using correct wire colours and wiring diagram
My gut feeling is it would be cheaper than buying a ready made one

The really sneaky one is to have the earth wire on the contact breaker plate break. This leaves you dependent on random earthing; which works - most of the time!

Bought the little girl some goodies this week.
New window felt guides, new brake shoes, and new brake snail thingies,, damn these brakes are giving me a hard time. We shall see if these new snails fix my adjusting issues.
Cant work on this now probably until I get her back up to my new home unfortunately,, but looking forward to working on her prior to taking her out in the bush up in the NE.
