John you have to remove the bolt as it sits in a grove in the splined shaft, stopping arm from coming off, once the bolt is out it will come off easily using your screw driver technique.

So, presumably the bottom one should come off first, then i can turn the top one such that the bolt is clear of the battery holder ?

If it still won't come off drive a cold chisel into the gap so to spread the arm slightly then leaver it off with a screw driver. You also need center pop the shaft & the arm so they go back on in the correct position.

Looking at mine, you should be able to turn the wheels so the bolt can clear the battery box support, but if not, you can, as suggested, remove the bottom one first.

Thanks John, and also I though when putting it back together maybe I can put the bolt through from the front, make it easier to get out next time !!
