1971 Series 2a paint job Sydney

Hey guys, i'm currently in the middle of a frame of rebuild of my 1971 Series 2a, what i am looking at doing now is doing a complete respray and colour change on the body, so in order to do that im hoping to find someone in Sydney who can mediablast the firewall and radiator panel and repair some minor body dings and then do the respray, has anyone had this sort of thing done in Sydney before? How much did it cost you? and any recommendations? cheers

I looked into getting a professional to respray my 109 Series IIA a few years back and the costs were pretty huge - I think around $6k was the lowest I was quoted and that was with me doing the paint stripping. I ended up hiring a compressor and painting myself using an acrylic paint. Whilst not the best of finishes it looks pretty good and in keeping with the look of an older Series Land Rover (you can see pictures of mine here: Jack (@jackuar_land_rover) • Instagram photos and videos

I have used Taylor and Botham in Brookvale for some recent panel repairs after a large tree branch fell on the front wing, they do complete vehicles and I would definitely recommend them.

Hi Jack, yeah I have been following you on Instagram for a while now I'm a northern beaches boy myself, how does the acrylic paint hold up over time? I chatted to the guys at autolac in brookvale and they seemed to think it wouldn't last much more than 2 years or so, I was intending to paint it myself but finding the time and place to do it is holding me up a bit

The paint seems to have held up pretty well, it was painted around four years ago. I used acrylic as it was safer from a human health perspective (I believe you can buy 2-pack paint which is harder wearing but it must be applied with breathing apparatus etc.).

I painted mine in a carport and it was far from ideal! I would love to repaint mine when I have a proper garage and time in the future.

Would love to see what yours looks like - send me a pic via Instagram :-)

Worth mentioning that the original paint on my 110 is acrylic - and is still in reasonably good condition after 31 years.
