Thread: Handbrake elbow lever configuration on 2A

Looks like the sort of clamp that holds brake lines.......will have a look and take a pic of mine if no one comes up with a better answer .....I'm just guessing

I don't think the W bracket is an original part, but I am away from home and don't have either my 2a or any references.

One of the problems with this setup is that a heavy load on the pivot will bend the plate that the pivot is mounted on. I suggest this w bracket has been added to alleviate this. I added a flat plate on the back of the bracket, neater, and effective.

The main reason for excess load is trying to get the handbrake to hold when covered in oil from a leaking seal.

The bracket is bent. Straighten it and it fits between the chassis and the pivot bracket. The pivot fits into the slotted hole in the chassis bracket and the plate goes behind the bracket and the pivot nut and spring washer hold it all together. There are two slotted pivot holes. The pivot goes into the lower hole from memory. The plate was added for strengthening coz the pivot can twist and break off. The plate adds extra strength where the pivot is bolted.

Going by ur pic the plate is on the wrong side of the pivot.

I can't find any reference in the handbooks or online. No pics anywhere, but it looks original. I can't imagine someone would fabricate this bracket. The nut for the lever axle is conical, which made me think the w plate fits on the outside of the chassis as the tapered end fits into the w hollow perfectly.
