Head Light Circuit for a 2A

    Hello All,

Does anyone have a circuit diagram from the toggle switch all the way back to the headlights for a 2A?

    Kind regards

    Instrument Panel

    Hello All,

I have almost sorted out which switch does what on my 2A's instrument panel - see below.

The photograph of the black instrument panel was accessed June 22 2018 from, DASH PANEL. The green by torchlight photograph is my 2A.

Looking at the labels on the black instrument panel it seems that I have confused the position of the headlight switch with the position of the where the Series 3 switch is. That might explain things a bit more.

I will have to swap out the instrument panel switch from the Series 3 to replace the broken instrument panel switch for the 2A. Fools rush in I suppose.

I will have to find that "safe" place where I put a set of 2A manuals that I was given years ago. I did not intend buying a Series 2A so I just stored them away .... somewhere...???

The instrument panel on my 2A must have undergone a Queensland conversion - original "Heater" switch changed to an electric personal fan that mounted on the cabin roof! See bottom left-hand corner of both instrument panels.

In my 2A I wonder what the push-button switch just below the Head-Side Light toggle switch actually operates?

    Kind Regards
    Lionel

    2A Head Light Switch

    Hello All,

Is the headlight switch on a 2A a toggle switch that only has two positions: all the way up is off and; down is on for headlights and parking lights?

I am used to Series 3s and their headlight switches are three position: all the way up is off; middle is instrument lights and parking lights; all the way down is headlights.

    Kind regards
    Lionel

Lionel possibly pushin switch is for windscreen washers perhaps, if you want I have a spare Haynes 2/3 manual which has wiring diagrams etc.
PM me you can have it for postage cost.
Interestingly your speedo has trip meter reels removed one of my doner cars has had the same modification, can't think why someone would go to the trouble of doing this.

Most likely suggestion for this is that the face from a trip meter speedo has been fitted to one without a trip meter - or works out of a non-trip meter speedo fitted to a speedo that had a trip meter. In either case, probably to get one working one out of two with different faults. I would check the accuracy of the result - it is possible that the mechanism does not match the dial!

    Hello Paul,

Well you win the prize for observation! I had to go back to the photograph and see what you meant. Little blank windows where numbers should be.

Haynes manual .... Haynes manual ... look on the book shelf..Haynes Restoration Manual Series 1, 11, & 111.This must be different to a Haynes workshop manual as I could not find the circuit diagrams. However, lurking just below the Haynes book happens to be Kenneth Ball's Workshop Manual for Land Rover 2, 2A, 3 with 2 1/4 or 2.6 litre engines 1959-72. With circuit diagrams in the back.

Thank you for getting me thinking about looking more closely on my bookshelf Paul.

I will attempt to track down my Series 2 genuine Land Rover manuals tomorrow. They must be somewhere. Thank you for the offer of the Haynes manual. I will see how I go with my hunt first.

    Kind Regards
    Lionel
