The combination oil pressure and temperature gauge in that position was, as far as I know, only fitted to military 2as. Look for other military clues - military placards, extended spring hangers and shackles etc. It looks to have been painted over the original green.

The ignition switch seems to be missing on the second panel.

Sorry I may have mislead, there are two vehicles, the second panel I posted does have the ignition missing, that's from a swb 2a (I believe transitional, headlights on fenders) , the other is a 2a or just 2, 109, that's a white color, tropical roof ,it has the extra gauge, I looked at the rear left spring hanger and is different to the 88, but I don't think extended, more like the mount is wider/stronger, but no chassis number.

I should also mention the white 109 has a separate volt gauge and vacuum gauge, but no brake booster, so I don't know what that's about.

Wide headlights came in 1969, although this seems to have varied according to where it was built. The white one appears to be a Series 2a from what I can see - the lever type vent controls did not come in until the end of Series 2. But the ammeter shows it is pre-1967, as that is when there were substantial wiring changes - these included changing from positive to negative earth, dropping the ammeter, going to a key start (earlier ones had a large pushbutton starter on the firewall below the instrument panel), and the addition of a temperature gauge. The steering column support is also the earlier type, but this changed later.

No Series 2/2a Landrovers had brake boosters as standard except for six cylinder ones, although they were available as an option (but very rare).

I knew about the brake booster setup not being there on the 4 cyl, was just musing as to why there would be a vacuum gauge.
And there is a large button on the firewall, I'll get a pic of that later.

Vacuum gauges were widely fitted after market to cars in the fifties and sixties (and even into the seventies) as an aid to economical driving (and to improve the bottom line of accessory retailers). Nothing to do with vacuum brake assist. I have a vague idea that a few cars had factory fitted vacuum gauges, although no Landrovers did.

So one of the button on the firewall, the rear spring hanger, and a couple of fuel tanks under the seats are they all a standard fitment?

Starter button is standard up to 1967, later than that should have key start.

LH fuel tank is non-standard. The padding on the firewall is "deluxe trim", goes with the padded roof and usually only fitted to station wagons for Series 2.

I am thinking it is likely that this vehicle (the white one) may be a composite of several different vehicles! Can you find a chassis number? If Australian assembled (and it should be as it has a PMC plate on the firewall) it should be on the flat bit just above the LH rear back spring shackle. It is also on the large panel next to the starter button. The two numbers should be the same - the one that matters is the one on the chassis, which may need wirebrushing to read.
