English Series 2 Engine Gearbox ... ID number Listing

					Hello All,

I found a UK based site for Series 2 and 2A Engine, Gearbox, Axle, Steering Box and Radiator identification number decoding.

It is not an exhaustive list with only one ID number indicating a year of manufacture. For example, One of my gear boxes is 25348663 E The Series 2 Club has a table which shows (25341997E Made 1968) Chassis / Engine / Gearbox / Axle Serial No's.....and Gaydon Dates..

Another UK site shows a "Timeline for Series 2 Land Rovers". http://www.nhua.co.uk/Landrover/docs...2_timeline.pdf

The timeline shows that April 1967 Suffix "E" Series IIA gearboxes were first available. While the last mention of Suffix "E" gearboxes is April 1969

Interestingly, the first mention of 2.6 litre petrol motor is May 1967 6 cylinder 2.6 litre petrol engines now available for "regular" bonneted models. Wider brake shoes and servo assistance used for 6 cylinder engined 109".

Remember that these sites show UK based data. I hope these sites are of some interest to you?

 Kind regards
 Lionel
