Car has been sitting inside for the last 5-6 years, and gear selector will wobble in neutral but wont go into any gears. Any ideas?

I did an online SA rego check and it comes up but no manufacture date, whether they would have more details if you contacted them direct ?
Should be a plate on the bulkhead with the chassis number (no VIN numbers back then) and also stamped on one of the rear spring hangers. From there you'll get a date range for the year from CALVIN (do an internet search for 'CALVIN Land Rover').
Selection problem could be a number of things. Sometimes the gears revolving while you try & select might help, roll the vehicle while trying. If not it could be the selector rods rusted or stuck. Will the gearstick move forwards & backwards when moved fully left or right ? If so the end of the gearstick could be broken off.
Best to remove the bellhousing & propshaft cover and investigate or it's just guesswork.
Found Lynda's Landrovers, not sure when they shut but they appear in online directories.
