    2A Front Wing Swapping question

Hi. I have a need to replace the front wing on a short wheel base 2A (probably about 1962).

In the parts catalogue it shows different part numbers for the top panel between the 88" and the 109" but the side panel appears to be the same.

    So the question is:

How different are the two versions and can I use a 109" version (Part No 330530) instead of an 88" version (part no 330530) without too much difficulty.

Apologies if this has already been asked.

    Thanks

    Andrew

My parts book shows no difference between 88 and 109, but a difference for suffix A to F and G on which is related to headlight position - and the top and inner wall are one piece, and neither are the number you quote.

This suggests that there would be no real problems, possibly something like a missing hole or similar.

As far as I am aware, these panels are fully interchangeable between 88 and 109. And pretty much from Series 2 to the end of Series 3 with the exception of the effects of the headlight position and changes to the splash panel to allow for a dual circuit master cylinder.

    Reassuring response. Many thanks

Thanks for answering this question. I guessed it would be the case that any differences are just about fixings and not about shape or dimension.

    Much obliged

    Hi Andrew

I am looking at new front wings for my 1963 Series 2a as well. Can you please let me know where you are purchasing them from?

    Cheers

I've read this on another forum.
Because the chassis rail of a 109" is deeper, than that of an 88", (with the extra inch added at the top) the mud guard used to be an inch shorter top to bottom.
As I've said, I'm parroting without any proof or experience. The 61 parts catalogue shows different numbers for lwb and swb.
