    Series 2 Diesel

An old friend has a farm ute with a badly cracked head.
Given the engine development, can you put a petrol head on the old block???

Hello Roverray,no petrol heads wont go on to the diesel.they are very different.the diesel heads whether it be a 2ltr or 2 1/4 are hard to find in good nick these days.

Further to that Roverray, the basic block on the 2 1/4 petrol and the 2 1/4 diesel are very simular so you can build a petrol out of the diesel block but you have to use all the internals out of a petrol and then the petrol head will fit.

Yes so my basic premise that a petrol head will go on the block is right!
naturally a cam and piston swap would be necessary, longwit dizzy etc. is the crank the same throw?
Maybe use diesel pistons - do a Singaporien mod to a petrol head.
Given the later diesel was developed from it how similar are they?
He is going to give me the old engine, has dropped off the pump and injectors this morning.
does anyone have a series 2 - 2.25 head laying about??

I have a brand new S2, ( not 2A) petrol head with hardened exhaust valve seats. Willing to let it go for a price.

I make the distinction, as S2 and 2A have different heads.
