Hi there
Many thanks there Troy - Alex initally thought he had major problems with his Coverntry Climax pump (as it was locked solid)
These pumps (300gpm) have very tight tolerances and it turned out to be stones jammed in the impellor. He has now learnt a leason of always running the pump with a suction strainer.
I suspect Alex would have a smile from ear to ear with his pride and joy running.
All the best
Wayne
So Wayne are all you guys with fire engines going to have a contest to see who can wet the highest up the wall?
Diana
You won't find me on: faceplant; Scipe; Infragam; LumpedIn; ShapCnat or Twitting. I'm just not that interesting.
Hi there Diana
Depend on how many rums have been consumed..........So Wayne are all you guys with fire engines going to have a contest to see who can wet the highest up the wall
But I am happy Alex has his pump working - he will be happy indeed.
All the best
Wayne
nice pics
that sure is a lot of pressure... even with what looks like a split hose ? (last pic, behind the pump operator)
thanks,
Pete
hi there
I must admit one of the major problems with the Land Rover Fire Engines - small motors with huge pumps and I suspect they would struggle over long pumping periods (to assist they fitted heat exchangers and huge oil coolers).
From memory the Fire-Fly's were fitted with the coventry Climax Pumps 300gpm - but the ex Army Fire Tenders (IIa) were fitted with the bigger 500gpm pumps.
All the best
Wayne
