    Plus 35 Series 2 Diesel.

    G'day,
while on a jaunt I stumbled across a SWB Series 2 Land Rover.

It is a diesel, plus 35, do any of you guys have any info on the Plus 35.

It has a reconditioned motor, spring over conversion & a PTO winch.

The "Plus 35" badge was introduced in the mid 60's shortly before the six cyl was released, to advertise the increased strength of the new axles.......... by 35%

So, uprated axles (rear only, I believe), and a shiny badge to prove it. And that's all there is to it.

The Plus 35 is a bit of marketing unique to Australia as was the badge.

Yes the axles were uprated, there was also uprated metallurgy in the diffs. You can identify a Plus 35 diff by a groove machined around the circumference of the crownwheel.

I am not sure if the axle halfshafts were the Dufor laminated types, but they also came in around that time.

You won't find me on: faceplant; Scipe; Infragam; LumpedIn; ShapCnat or Twitting. I'm just not that interesting.

Probably reflects that they were beginning to get a reputation for breaking axles and diffs!
