Shonky's Series II Restoration - Parts Shopping List

    Hi Guys.

For those that came in late, I am in the process of restoring my '58 Series II Shorty. The buildup is being documented in the Projects and Tutorials Section. Click Here.

As with any restoration there are various odds and ends I need to get my hands on - some I haven't even thought of yet! As I find that I need something I will post it on my shopping list in the hope that someone has one or knows where I can get one at a good price.

If you spot something here that you have info on - please drop in and let me know!

    Mucho appreciado amigos!

    Dear Santa...

    - 2.25L Petrol Engine. Preferably complete and in reasonable order. I want to have a crack at reconditioning the engine so it needs to be salvageable (obviously!)

    - Alternatively... 2L IOE Engine. Same as above, but would rather sacrifice originality for practicality. There you are Diana - I listened!

    - Bellhousing to suit 2.25P (or 2P-IOE).

    - Front Bumper.

    - Rear crossmember. If someone has a good one lying around - great! If not I will have to get one from FWDs.

    - Tub to suit 88" or tub side panels. Full tub is preferable as one of the rear panels has a gouge in it. Also easier to fit.

    - Guide plate for yellow 4WD knob. You know the one I mean...?

    - Grille panel. Mine is rusty, but repairable. I am capable, but lazy. Geddit?

    - Door tops. I need some, but doesn't everybody?

    - FIREWALL. To suit 4cyl - needs to be fairly straight and rustfree. I am dubious of my ability to fix the one I have... I will probably give it a go though, but it would be good to know where I can get a good one when I screw it up!

    G'Day Shaun.

    Where 'bouts are you mate?

I will keep you in mind when the time (and the cash) comes to buy some more bits - at the moment funds are diverted from parts to tools so I can actually continue work!

I have destroyed my cheapy socket set (although god bless, it got me thus far!) and don't have a compressor so need to sort that out.

I will keep my eyes peeled for a Rangie chassis for you!

Updated! - Compressor. Needs to be of reasonable capacity for painting and running air-tools.

Updated! - Air tools / spray gear. To use in conjunction with above.

I may be able to help with some of the bits.

    I have a 2.25 motor, condition unknown.

I have a bell housing (don't think much can go wrong with them!)

I have a front bumper - but it is not a real good one.

I have a rust free chassis - it has had the engine mounts butchered so could be a cross member donor.

I probably have a spare tub, but I suspect the panels are worse than yours!

Guide plate - I think I can rustle one up.

Door tops - sorry, I have spares but plan to keep them!

Firewall - I have a rust free, pretty straight, one, but the bell housing area has been cut out (it is on the chassis mentioned above).

And I suspect I am closer to you than rover4life.

    G'Day John.

Sorry for the late reply - I usually just click "new posts" and this one hadn't popped up!

I would be interested in the motor - are you able to make a rough assessment on condition based on appearance? What sort of money were you after for it?

I might take that off your hands also! Price?

I'll pass on the bumper I think , but thanks anyway.

Also interested in the chassis - as long as you don't think it could be repaired and used by someone else rather than being cut up. Plenty of crossmembers out there. Your call.

I'll pass on tub then! I may be able to fix mine.

I have spare doortops too - but they are rusty aswell! I might have a go at repairing mine. They aren't tooooooo bad.

Would it be a difficult task to weld a new section back into the firewall?
