    2.25 petrol - crank shaft pulley nut size?

    what size socket do i need to order to undo the crank shaft pulley? Don't have anything handy to size it!

    1.686 inches (inch and 11/16th) or about 43mm (42+ change)

    that was a quicky measurement with a vernier in poor lighting... might be a little out.

    You would want to measure what size your particular starting dog was. I have measured two, and they were a different socket size. So much different in size that the smaller socket would not squeeze on the bigger nut, and the larger socket would slip on the smaller nut. Expect to pay at least $40 for a socket of this size. The manual shows how to use Rover special tool.... which looks like a ring spanner pressed out from a piece of plate, but then gives a precise torque figure to tension it up to.
