Solex carby on my 2a petrol. 2250
My 2a has developed a miss after being fed some dirty fuel from it's spare tank. It seems the longer it runs (gets hotter) the worst it gets. I checked the compression its 120 psi in all four. When the possible dirty fuel was put in it also had new points, rotor, condensor, leads, coil and spark plugs put in at the same time. So the fault finding is a bit difficult.
I have ordered a carby kit and fuel filter for xmas and I was wondering if there are any tricks to the fitting of this kit and what is the best way to clean all the bits. Any advice or hints would be great.
Regards Ben

I just did this. Well, tried too. Had a nice large wind come along and blow away some things when I had my back turned.
I used petrol just to soak everything in and checked over parts which the kit did not come with and blew out with the air compressor but what I would do next time is not take it all apart but take it apart 1/3rd at a time and build it up in portions because once you have it all apart it is 150 pieces (according to the diagram) and washers of similar size and it just got a bit confusing for me.
Also you may need all the exploded diagrams you can get because they all seem to be from different angles and each one misses the next thing. If it is the same pack as I got it has a crap diagram but some stuff omitted from rave was on it.

Use high pressure air to bow out all of the passages and make sure you wear eye protection.
Carby cleaner in a can is good stuff for dissolving petrol gum and external gunk,
