Now it's time to make it straight and shiny to win again.

Good stuff Mark! Lets organise a catch up soon and compare notes, sounds like your 2.25 would out-gun mine! Good to hear it's running well.
FWIW, mine had a mighty chortle on overrun, especially engine braking downhill with a nice hot motor. I loved it, but lost it almost completely with the new exhaust.
Sam
Glad you had a good trip. Unfortunately I was not able to get in for the Police Spectacular due to grandchildren and a health scare (no problems - diagnosed as reflux not heart).

Missed an LROCS easy/new members trip today, bit of a false start this morning.
So went for a scenic trip drive instead, found some scrabbly sand and loose rock climbs with minor rock steps. These little motors just don't give up, very flexible, lugging away without throttle long after I expected it to give up. The suspension and wheelbase gets a bit dicey on potholed gravel roads, could end up pointing towards the verge if not careful.

G'day Greg,
Glad you found the forum, welcome! It was good having a chat in Dubbo, the trip home was bloody cold but good fun all the same.
Cheers,
Mark
HI, Great to see you restoring and keeping it orig :) yes those little 2.25's hang harder than a pitbull! I have a '66 SWBsofttop that was bought new in march 1966 by my grandfather for the property. In '91 and '95 mate and I took it to Cape York and across the Gulf into the territory,8 weeks of fun each time and not a Hiccup, even towed a mates Jackeroo after his clutch died :DDD It still works on the property but only fun now, replaced with a 300TDi defender so rest assured yours will last a loooong time! enjoy!
PS some1 in the thread mentioned a cleaner to dissolve metal bits, Be aware the freeze/welch plugs in the head and parts of the block are alloy so will dissolve fast!!
regards Scott
Happy 50th Birthday Mary!!

Officially delivered to the NSW Government Stores (Police) on the 30th of January 1963.
She'll get a fresh tank of fuel and a wash after work today, some fresh oil and filtration on the weekend, and when I can afford it a full soft top :D
Bit late to be worried about the numberplate now;)
