The difference between being a pig to drive and a pleasure, is a good fuel pump.

The last couple of months I just couldn't get a decent tune, adjusted everything, replaced sparking plugs, new leads, fresh fuel, just didn't want to run well. Drove it to All British Day relying on the choke to have enough power to get it up hills and low range for hill starts.
Preparing today for the Expo tomorrow I moved it onto the lawn for a wash, but Bloody Mary flatly refused, even low range first was stalling.Took the County to the servo to get some more fresh fuel as it was getting low, still didn't help. No hidden fuel filters anywhere to cause problems (or catch rubbish ), no rubbish in the sediment bowl anyway, but still any more than idle was stuttering spurts followed by trying to stall.
Bit the bullet and fitted the fuel pump I had bought months ago as a spare. They are pretty cheap from UK ebay.
Now she fires on first blip of the starter without choke, flies up hills, steep hill starts don't require any clutch slipping, she's purring smoothly at idle, minimal popping in the exhaust, no backfiring and I am a happy chap again!

Off to Castle Hill for the Expo tomorrow with a spring in her step

I attended a mate's wedding back in October. The weather was perfect, my County was low on fuel so I took the Series. After the ceremoney, sitting in the bar indulging in the bar tab and I get an SMS, "Thanks for bringing your car".

The photographer was apparently quite boring and uninspired, until everyone started climbing on my car and then he found his stride

On another note, the Ridge Ryder 'RV Roof Pack' roof rack bag from Supercheap Auto fits between the wheel arches in the IIa quite well, and the zip is around the top, so it'll be easy to keep gear both dry and dust free as well as accessible when truck-cabbing or no-cabbing around.

    Happy 51st birthday Mary!

I have had a bit of a problem with the dizzy-the flange where the clamp seats had cracked and collapsed and wouldn't let the timing adjust properly. Could get it right but it'd vibrate back to where it wanted to be before too long.
This evening I fitted an Accuspark electronic ignition distributor. Very easy to install, even came with enough wire length to hook up properly. Maybe an hour with a bit of fiddling with other stuff in the middle.
Took it around the block, gee a strong spark is a good spark!

Now to give it a longer run to see if what I thought was a leaning out problem is indeed still a problem or not.

Thanks mate, ol' Mary hasn't turned a wheel in over a year now, my fiance hasn't even sat in her yet! Currently Mary is in secure dry storage waiting for me to fix the carburettor and a few other niggles-the usual time & money problem, however with the upcoming option of logbook based conditional registration the inspiration is there for action again. Stay tuned...but don't hold your breath!

She'll be home from storage as soon as I work out how to do so, two 110s that can't tow a car trailer due to hitch type makes it difficult!
