I have a Zenith here in complete but untested condition. Have you still got the Solex? because i would prefer to have a Solex over the Zenith (Series 1 resto)
    cheers

    Zenith 361 - Solex

I actually have two solex's...both have the same problem, the top of the venturi post thing with the air jet mounted at the centre of aperture of the throat's intake has crumbled and will not hold the jet that is supposed to screw in there...The central post is simply pressed into the carburettor body...I made one out of an air compressor connector part and it works well but I'm sure it's running way rich because the part I made isn't the exact dimensions as the original part...I had just reconditioned my engine and was desparate to get it going

Apart from the above issue, I'm sure you would get one excellent carbie out of the two I have (includes new throttle spindle and recondition kit) and I'm happy to part with them, when I can find a replacement Zenith.

Is your Zenith complete or incomplete?

    Cheers, Les 0408890098

As far as i know its complete. I am not really familiar with the Zenith. I will take some piccys and put them up. My other project also runs a Solex so i would like to have interchangeability.

    Zenith 361v

Yes, looks OK. Good pics. I'm happy to buy it and if I get it going ok you can have the Solex bits. Please give me a call when convenient. Thanks Les 0408890098

    G'day Les
I am happy just to swap it for one of the Solex's in running order if thats OK for you. The next week is pretty flat strap for me, let me know what you think.
    cheers

IMHO the Zenith 36IV is quite a good carby, the only problem I encountered with them, apart from throttle shaft/body wear, was warping between the top section and the main body/float chamber.
This could be detected by running feeler gauges aroung the mating surfaces - the gap was usually found on the side near the linkages.
A new gasket would probably fix the problem for a while but I usually just resurfaced each face using a sheet of fine wet and dry paper on a piece of flat glass and then reassembled using old gasket.

I realise that this in a little off topic but thought you members may be unaware of it and might benefit from it.
