    S2 Water Pump Assembly

Hi all, I'm having trouble tracking down a water pump (8 hole) for an SII engine , I was originally going to pop a SIII timing cover plate in place, thus allowing me to use a SIII water pump, however, the cover plate I have doesn't fit (the water pump bit sits too high and interferes with the thermostat housing). So I'm back to sourcing an 8 hole, SII water pump... any one know of where to get one?

Or at least the correct water pump assembly part number - that would help as well.

They're getting very hard to find. I recall that Four Wheel Drives has them listed in their parts catalogue, but like a lot of their earlier stuff it's probably on an "as available" basis. I'm pretty sure, though, that a competent mechanic should be able to rekit it, provided the case is still in good nick. I have a friend in Katherine who rebuilds them with Holden carbon/ceramic seals and decent quality bearings. I think I may be able to find a secondhand unit with a good case if you're short of one to rekit.

The SII part number is 501041, the SIIA part number is 530477.

Dunsfold DUNSFOLD look as if they have one in their catalogue, but it's hard to be sure.

It also looks as if they are available at 501041 WATER PUMP ASSEMBLY 8 HOLE | Land Rover Series 1948-1984: Engine: Cooling | shop | www.lrseries.com | L. R. Series.

You could also try Land Vehicle Spares 02 4774 1741, Brian will most likely have something.

Thanks for the part number, and I'll give Brian a call.

Thanks, mine is in pretty good nick, and I may be able to refurbish it here... I have a mate with a press that may be able to help... but being a lazy sod I'd rather just buy a new one!

They are quite easy to re-build, and much cheaper too. The trick is to make some tooling to hold the case correctly, so that the risk of breaking it is greatly reduced.
