    Tie rod End Warning

Hey guys just referring to a previous post I made entitled "where do I get parts"

In this post Diana warned me about getting the incorrect Tie rod ends.

I have found some that have about a 1cm shoulder and it didn't seem as shouldered as the ones Diana (lots-a-landies) displayed in her picture.

They are from Rovacraft in Perth and I was wondering whether it was worth buying them, they are $27.00.

I don't want to buy if incorrect though.

    thx guys

There are two types, ones which have the unthreaded shoulder, about 12mm wide, and ones with no appreciable shoulder at all. I have not seen any in between. And as mentioned in that post, make sure you ge the right ones, which on the 2a should be the ones with the unthreaded shoulder. If the clamping section of the tube has no thread, it must clamp on an unthreaded shoulder.

the important issue is not the length of the shoulder per Se but that the shoulder is completely below the clamp without any risk of the clamp slipping off the end of the tube. This could be an issue with the later folded clamp, but not really an issue with the Series 1, Series 2 and early Series 2a cast type.

    10 - 12 mm is probably O.K.

You won't find me on: faceplant; Scipe; Infragam; LumpedIn; ShapCnat or Twitting. I'm just not that interesting.
