GS1967, I believe that the slider in the rear window of the cab cabin is a different size to that in the door.

I would have thought that it would have been relatively easy to obtain the glass, I have a complete set here for the doors and the front windscreen.

Try your wreckers and ebay.

I have noticed recently on the UK ebay site a set of aluminimum door tops which had both glass pieces sliding, that is the back one, which normally slides and the front section was sliding too. Might try this when I get to reburishing mine, thought it was a good idea.

Door top glass is toughened. It cannot be cut. A glass place could only supply laminated glass. The easiest and cheapest option would be 2nd hand glass from a rusty door top.

The stuff that makes them slide is called bailey channel. It was about $15 per door top last I bought it.

I have perentie door tops on my IIA. All aluminium, double sliding glass, worth every cent.

Large glass supply places (particularly in rural areas where there is demand for tractor replacements etc) will cut glass to size and send it off to get toughened and marked. But sit down before they tell you a price! Toughened glass is much preferred for the sliding windows, as it is more resistant to damage and the edges are exposed.

But as noted by others above, there is plenty of second hand glass around. Note however that shipping glass round the country gets expensive, so if possible get it from somewhere you can visit.

Not so - most glass places can provide flat toughened glass to the required size with the proper auto logo etched in.

I have done it with my vehicles.

Are you saying they can cut sheets of toughened glass to size??? Because I have been told by several glass places that that isn't possible.

What can be done, as JD says, is to cut the glass to size and then send it off to be toughened.

Hi all. And no i`m not refering to the help you guys have pointed out re door top glass. I`ve been pointed in the direction of a top little s2 up Newcastle way.So much so i`ve had a mate put a wee deposit down for me. Currently near to completion,its had the body going over & totally resprayed in/out. Chassis completely stripped down & repainted in black Por15.Cab refurbed & painted.Updated seating.Good set of wheels & running a small block 8. And engineered. So now after these past few weeks of getting the 186/67gs & more recent,the swb chassis with a good 186 (to replant in the 67),not to mention numerous items like door locks,lenses,blackout lights,door tops etc i`m up in the air a bit. So not being able to fit any more vehicles in my place ( i have 3 trailers,another one coming & a vintage caravan) looks like the 67 & the chassis job have to go. The swb chassis/firewall look pretty much sold. Will be a few weeks b4 i get the Newcastle unit but if any one is interested in the others,drop me line. cheers gordon

Evening all. Now the g/f got into the action. Why`d want to sell when you`ve already something just that bit different? So after looong discussion, i`m back to square one. Keep the `67 & replant the motor. Fair dinkum,my dawg don`t give me that much grief. So i`ll see what transpires over the next few days as the swb chassis & firewall is sold.Motor outta that goes into the `67. That`s pretty much straight forward as there`s no guards etc in the way. Different story with the other one. I have one of those mechanics gearbox trolley lifters & also a hoist fitted to one of my trailers so either way ones got to be able to lift the 186 out. Still have to pick up the door tops this w/e & do some other things in the meantime. The Newcastle unit will be garaged near there for the time being & will make my mind up about it later. Don`t need any more turmoil on the homefront. cheers gordon
