I managed to get a lot of the ancillaries sorted out yesterday, slave cylinder is back in, as are the fuel lines, electrical to the engine and the radiator refitted and plumbed in, coolant added, oil and filter changed. Ralph fired first hit, but wouldn't switch off till I realised I wired the fuel cut off solenoid to a live terminal on the starter switch (D'OH). Now to bleed the clutch, brakes and refit the front guards, fit the front drive shaft and hopefully take it for a run later this week and see if the parabolics in the front are as good as reports.

Well Ralph is all back together and I am happy to report that the gearbox is as smooth as a politician on polling day. It's a lot quieter than the old gearbox as well. Having the the new brake booster is great but I do think there is still a bit of air somewhere in the system. I have pressure bled it about 4 times but it still doesn't "feel right" sometimes if you know what I mean. It is being looked at by the brake guys next door to work so hopefully they might have a bit better luck than I. The front drive shaft slotted straight back in after I re fitted the motor (should have thought of that before asking the question). I adjusted up the clutch but I could not get anywhere near the 158mm it says in the manual for the pedal height off the floor. The best I can get with the pedal arm hard up against the front of the pedal box is 135mm. Seems to be working quite well though. New parabolics in the front end also have a softer ride which is nice. This weekend is a 2 night club trip to Rathdowney and thru the Border Ranges Nat Park, so I might have to drag the swag out of the back shed and take him for a wee jaunt on Saturday.
    Cheers Ian

Just had the brakes looked at, the bloody rear passenger brake hose lock nut into the drum housing was loose. Some heavy handed gorilla must of stripped it. Luckily it was only the nut (no not this nut). Bizarre as it wasn't leaking when I bled it but Neil at the brake place showed me, anyhow he cut it off and fitted a new nut so I will see how it goes now. He did say that the front shoes weren't sitting 90 degrees to the drums on the screws, will pull them back off tomorrow and have a look at what is going on.

I Went camping and swagged it on the weekend in Ralph with the 4wd club, unfortunately the alternator let go and flattened the battery. managed to get by with some solar panels but the fuel pick up blocked up on me a couple of times. Had to split a joint in the fuel hose to the filters and blow back down it to clear it. Stripped it out yesterday arvo when I got home to find this. Hopefully after a new alternator and a tank flush, it will be all good again. We drove through to Cattle Station Creek in the Border Ranges Nat Park for a BBQ lunch and a cruise back down Lyons Rd to the camp site. It's amazing how much stuff you can get in the back of an 88" for one person.

Well I finally got a chance to take Ralph for a run with the club the other weekend, left home with swmbo to cruise over to the Southport Spit for a club BBQ, with the door tops off, got 5 minutes down the road and it started to bucket down, turned the wipers on and yep, the drivers side one decided not to work. All my tools were under the table, chairs, esky, dogs that i loaded in the back so i just drove on. I managed to get over there without too much trouble, the rain stopped about 5 km from the bbq, luckily it was only the cam connected to the drive pin that was a bit loose. Ghe club is going to Janowen this weekend and I toyed with the idea of taking Ralph, but I'll take the Tardis as I need the camper trailer as it looks like its going to be a wet weekend ans a wet weekend in a swag is a bit uncomfortable. The new gear box is great, it does pop out of 4th occasionally on overun, question please, can that be rectified from the top of the box or will I need to remove it again.
    Cheers Ian.
