Series 2 Firewall, where to get?

I've done a bit of a search, and will continue to do so. But I'm considering buying a series 2 in bits, and I know the fire wall is fairly bad, just wanted to know what options I had to get a good or new one.
    Thanks in advance.
Oh, one more thing, probably a silly/stupid question, but are the series 2 firewalls the same as the series 1 or 3? Or can they be modified easily to fit? Rhetorical question, but I had to ask.

All different, and good ones are hard to find.

The closest alternative would be a S3, but that will give you the plastic dash mounting. Although, some people do cut and shut the 2-2a dash back in afterwards. (and a few people actually like the plastic dash too)

I think there is a difference between the 4 cyl and 6 cyl too (in the trans tunnel area).

New replacement firewalls are available ex-UK but you need deep pockets.

No S1 firewalls are not the same - don't even consider it.

There are several types of firewall in the S2/S2a that you need to consider.
    • 4 Cylinder and 6 cyl firewalls are different so you need to match the replacement to the recipient vehicle.
    • There are also the early and late S2a types. The early ones have windscreen wipers through the screen while the later ones have a cable operated wiper system that has a number of holes and mountings in the top of the firewall and over in the LHS parcel shelf.

Series 3 firewalls have different mountings for the screen so you would need to also replace the screen and as said previously the plastic dash will need a bit of conversion.

Out your way I would be heading West down the ranges looking for a firewall off a farm or local wrecker. The further west you go the less rust you usually find, avoid them from the mountains or from the coast, particularly from around Newcastle as they have often spent lots of time on salt beaches and estuaries and are usually rust time bombs.

Your best local options for a replacement are CLR at Winmalee, or LVS at Silverdale. The footwells would be the most likely area to go, but you can buy new ones for $88 each from LVS.

If you're in the Mountains, you're welcome to come and look at my refurbished firewall in Warrimoo. I got a good second-hand unit, and replaced the footwells.

    Thanks all.
Well I ended up buying the car anyway(in peices), and it came with a great condition spare fire wall I'd not yet seen in the pile of bits.
So now I need to ask myself if I'm skilled enough to get her back together, and if I should get the chassis Gal dipped while it's nearly bare, it'll need a touch of work at the back first.
Or just sell it, or wreck it(is that a sacrilege?).
I don't really have the space to make it a timely operation, and would need to be done ASAP.

You sold the number 5 is short order so why should selling this one cause you any grief!

I sold one of two No5s I bought, the other one I just used to pick this series 2 up in(minus rolling chassis and engine).
I picked this car up from a client, for a price I could afford, should I have just left it there to rot?
