    1968 Grille

I am doing some research on the 68 S2A grille as shown in the picture from the Australian brochure in the attachment and wondered whether this grill was used on all markets or was unique for the Australian-assembled vehicles sold here? Any advice is appreciated. Gordon.

Standard grille for 6 Cylinder models.

The 6 was available on LWB models from '68.

The plot thickens. The picture is from the Australian brochure and the same grille is shown on all models, SWB and LWB, furthermore, I have seen many 68 vehicles in the metal with this grille. Was the same grille used at all in the UK or only on LWB vehicles? Pictures I have seen of UK vehicles from this time all have the mesh type grille.

    Thanks.

I have one in my shed that came of a SWB 4 cylinder model. Things get swapped, and to change a grille is 30 seconds and two screws. Just 'coz it's there doesnt make it right!

I was of the understanding that this grille was used on 6 cylinder models worldwide, but I am not confident enough to give you a 100% answer...

As for the brochure - I got nothing! Could have been an option, could have been an illustratory stuff up... who knows!

2a 6 cylinder, was my thoughts too.

As has been mentioned in another thread as well, there were even some series 3's issued with 2a grilles, due to specific customer requirements, and a lack of trust of the plastic.

I thought I would add another Australian brochure shot showing the SWB. As mentioned, I have seen a lot of 68 SWB's with this grille so with the comments so far I am increasingly mystified.
    Cheers.

My 2a's got the same grille - early 1969 model. I assumed they must have been using up the Australia-only 6cyl grilles before they changed to having the lights in the guards.

The grill is a local Australian part, used only on Australian assembled vehicles. It was a part of the Australian content rules and fabricated for LNC Industries Pressed Metal's, Enfield Plant.

Or somebody has just swapped them at some stage over the last 40 years...
