Thread: help with firewall please

The 6 cylinder vehicles, if optioned with a heater, had the thin, square shaped one. The 4 cylinder jobs had the round type, which are deeper.

Mine does not have the strip between the trans tunnel and the firewall and the firewall is vertical, not sloped. It looks original to me, but the car has had a resto by a PO sometime ago so its hard to say. The problem I have with it is that the firewall protrudes so far back into the cab that the heater (shin burner type) wont fit between the gearstick - also the hand throttle I have wont fit because it sticks out past the "dash". It is most likely one (either four or six) that has been modified in a previous incarnation to fit some non-standard engine.
