Another 2A recovered from 'the bush'

    Hi

I picked up a S2A from under some gum trees today.

The body panels look OK - the chassis is shot and the firewall will need replacing.

It's been sitting for around 10 years - the motor oil is still a good colour and no water in it - it's going to be interesting opening that up...

    Some numbers I have found:

On a plate labeled 'Pressed Metal Corp Ltd Sydney' - drivers side below the windscreen:
    Body: LRS15227
    Serial #: 8815227

On a Landrover plate - drivers side below the windscreen:
    Chassis #: 24320594H

On a plate I found on the radiator shroud:
    +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
    Land Rover 2A
    8/71 24320594H

GVW 4464 LBS SEATING CAP 6

    WAS MANUFACTURED BY
    BRITISH LEYLAND MOTOR
    CORPORATION OF AUSTRALIA LTD.
TO COMPLY WITH AUSTRALIAN DESIGN RULES
    NOS 4.7.??

THIS PLATE IS AFFIXED WITH THE
    APPROVAL OF THE
    AUSTRALIAN MOTOR VEHICLE
    CERTIFICATION BOARD.

    Well done.

Don't they just give you that "warm & fuzzy" feeling.

    Indeed they do.

This one will be taking a while - it's pretty dire:

Some pictures would be useful. Seating capacity six and the GVW sounds as if it is a swb wagon with no centre seat. What is the wheelbase and body type? ANd how many seats does it actually have?

With chassis and bulkhead shot it sounds to me more like a collection of panels and mechanical spares.

You answered most of my questions while I was posting!

    Nice little truck mate!

Usually a restoration is deemed viable almost entirely based on wether the chassis and firewall are salvageable, not the other way around! Each to their own though... I guess I took on my '58 when most others would have not bothered...

The body work looks very nice though.

I totally agree - I should have added a few more words in my first post. It's going to be 'reduced to parts' where viable. Or, more to the point, robbed to get another one going.
