Hi People,
A question on my '66 Series2a..got a Solex carby on this girl and between the carby and inlet manifoled there is a spacing block....is this normal??...
I have been looking at a spareparts manual and this block is shown on the Zenith carby's but not on the Solex. Can anyone confirm that this block is normal??....the bloke who had the car before me used to screw around a lot with her and worried that it shouldn't be there.....

As Dave says (p/n 278162) - it is intended to stop heat from the manifolds boiling fuel in the float bowl when stopped. The Zenith has an additional adapter (554175) which rotates the stud positions 90 degrees.

Did you manage to get it started yet mate?
Yep...finaly. Changed the condensor and changed some settings and she came up. The only prob i got is it's idling around 1400rpm. The timing is pretty advanced but thats where she throttles well...if I put the timing back to where it should be, the throttle is flat and almost stalls. I'm suspecting the guy before me may have setup the timing wrong..maybe a tooth out. As I said to Black Night, may have to pull the front off and check...
Banjo's thread, how hot is too hot has my generic timing check and set info.
best of luck.
