I am wondering whether there is a schematic of a one tone chassis to check Ben?

Ben, i got an answer on the chassis dimensions.

I contacted s3 1 ton owners and Richards Chassis and they have all confirmed the 1 ton chassis is the same as a s3 only differences are the spring hangers, same as a Aust Mil Chassis or a s3 with extended hangers welded on.

    Thanks Nick

You will also find that there is a scallop out of the bellhousing cross member to allow clearance of the prop shaft. But this is already present on the Au Mil SIII

Any luck tracking down a 1 ton gearbox?

You won't find me on: faceplant; Scipe; Infragam; LumpedIn; ShapCnat or Twitting. I'm just not that interesting.

Regular series box PTO are easy to find - even NOS. They get more difficult to find when its a 1 Ton box.

Someone once told me there was a centre steer model in Australia.

Someone else told me that Rover Co only made 1 centre steer prototype, after that trial it was converted back and used for other prototype mods.

Until I see something, even a photo, and it has reasonable provenance. i.e. some official documentation, then I treat it as an urban myth.

Question? do 4bd1 powered Stage 1's have a 109 1 tone/military chassis or is it just a slightly moded 109 chassis?

The stage 1 have stage 1 chassis. Both the V8 and 4BD1 have chassis differences relating to the position of the engine mounts.

The front cross member is moved forward to the front of the mudguards and they use a different steering relay mounted to the inside of the chassis rails.

Have never seen a SIII-V8 or SIII-4BD1 with extended spring hangers, but the NZ military used stage 1's so may have had the extended hangers. You'll need to ask a Kiwi.
