Nice... long, but worth the read.

Yes, enjoyed that one. Agree the dashboard was a bit yurrrk and I also wish people wouldn't do four-eyed series conversions - looks weird. Other than that it was a bloody nice job.

Looks like a pretty dodgy conversion, there's no need to weld a series output shaft to the np435's - all thats needed is to machine the np's to series spec - looks like they went the cheap route so to avoid the annealing / rehardening machining costs? strange ( i haven't fully read the whole thread yet, so just assuming thats the issue )

Yeah that was an epic build. Was following that one for quite a while as he built it up.
Love the OM617 he dropped in there. Arguably the world's most reliable consumer IC engine.

Well I'm certainly not going through 48 pages of it,

i agree the headlights look dodgy.

Looks Ok from a distance though.. say 10,000 kms.

no offence to people that have done that but the 2 lights on the outside work fine by themselves

I don't mind it - good place to mount spotties, out of the way and protected.

The colour though, all that work. I personally dont like repainted series - I reckon they look proper with faded, cracked, worn back to alloy original paint.

I've got a mate who does resto work, hot rods etc - a lot of customers pay him to do paint work that looks 60+ years old . Aparantly its not an easy thing to do.
