    voltage regulator

    gday all!
just a quick 1, got a new alternator today 85amp to replace an old 40amp which was puting out hardly any charge. then thought the voltage regulator is probly not going to let the full charge through the regulator. the book only talks about it being with a dynamo not alt so can i get away with by passing the regulator?

I assume your new alternator is internal regulator and the old one was external. Unplug the regulator and run the DF wire to the alternator F or field terminal. That is all you need to make the dash indicator to work when the ignition is on.
