You won't find me on: faceplant; Scipe; Infragam; LumpedIn; ShapCnat or Twitting. I'm just not that interesting.
I'll get it tomorrow when I'm working on her.
5/77
Saw # 164 on the weekend.
Also a 5/77 compliance plate.
Steel bar, wheel carrier, tropical roof, Deluxe bonnet.
And now #164 is going to be a truck cab blue series 3.
So externally no game bits at all.
So not much has happened to this in the months since this post.........untill today when it moved 20 min up the road to my place, decided to "branch out" abit from the Military rovers.....this could be interesting, will get details and a better pic or two in the next day or so
There was a question well back about whether Games were available with a turbo option. The short answer is no, the long answer is yes. There were available dealer fitted.
Long story short, we sold a pub business to the local Leyland agent, Mitchell Motors in Launceston, or more specifically the dealer principal at the time, Rick Shields. This was March 1979. On the lot was a new Game, fitted with a turbo. I had the pleasure of getting hold of it for three days to give it a try out. At the time I had a tricked up 1971 SIIA LWB. Performance was frightening, for the time. I remember backing off the power whilst going up a moderate grade with the speedo past the last digits (140 from memory). Brakes, to handle the power, were totally inadequate of course, but for a Landie it handled well.
I didn't buy it in the end, but painted mine Yellow Devil and white, got the flares and even the Game decals for the front guards (available as spare parts back then) and created a LWB Game.
Picked up an S111 Game from Tassie last week. His name is "Nugget"
Body is good, chassis is good, bulk head has a few small rust holes, door tops rotted out, rist in rear door frame, interior is trashed, all electrics work except fuel gauge, lots of cut off wires and added switches that seem to do nothing.
I have pulled the head off the Nissan ED30 motor and as i suspected it has blown head gasket, but motor inside is pristine. Gearbox drops out of 4th on deceleration (syncro ring?)
History from what I've been told - Presently in Melbourne, i bought it from Tassie, previous owner bought it from Perth, that owner bought it from Sydney and plates say it was in Qld during the 90's....
