    Dual batteries for Willy ?

G'day everyone! Well to cut a long story short i've just recieved my new series 3 wagon. Hes a 4cyl petrol, 1982?
i've yet to check on that though.. And his name is Willy!
I spent last night looking over him and found what looks to me like a dual battery solenoid??
Was hoping someone could confirm or deny this for me ? I'll try and get some more pics of him up soon !!!

    Congratulations on your purchase!

You should check to see if there are leads or a battery under the passenger front seat, that's the most popular place to put a second battery.

The component in the photo looks like a high amp circuit breaker to me, hard to tell as I can't see all the terminals.

Like the second item on this page http://www.ktcables.com.au/circuit_breakers.aspx

Hey, i think you might be right. I tried to get some more pics but i start work in the dark and finish in the dark...
I might even pull it out to get a better look? Still got the series 2!, i've been told i have to sell it but i might try and get it on club plates so i can use it without spending a fortune.
I'm wrapped with Willy! the more i look him over the happier i am! Found a pic of him too!!

Thanks guys, compared to his sister when i got her he's a gem.
Im still not sure what it is but its not broken so... I'll leave it alone
Maybe when i get him on the road i'll investigate it a little more...
I tried to adjust his brakes yesterday but the front left drum is out of shape.. so i'll replace front shoes, drums and rebuild the wheel cylinders I thinks.
I also noticed he's set up for a crank handle! That'll be interesting to play with one day..

If the crank handle is still there they were behind the seats comes in handy on cold winter mornings if the car is tuned right they start easy

I've looked around but havn't found one for it.. I found some pics and measurements on the net, I'm getting one made up for me. Should be ready by next week!
I've tuned Willy up he seems to start on the second or third crank on the starter when cold so it'll be interesting to see how easy or hard it is with the crank handle.

I've worked out what that solenoid is for too! Traced all the wires to the starter motor and noticed it doesn't have a solenoid on it. So i'm guessing its for that?

Anyway.. I'm about to head downstairs and replace his tie rod ends and start on his brakes(want to repalce the front shoes and drums). With abit of luck he'll be turning heads in no time

Still amazes me that the Land Rover turns as many... if not more heads than the Porsche!
