    Series III 88 Restoration

    Hi all,
Just got handed down my old mans Landy to restore am very happy and I expect a very steep learning curve. Mechanically it seems good and drives well. Nothing electrical works - Lucas is the lord of darkness it seems. The glow plug system has big problems and there is rust in the top half of the drivers door. Other than that it seems good.
I have ordered the manuals from Daves site to start with. If anyone knows the location of a top half of a drivers door that would be great - I am in the ACT. Also this may be a stupid question but are new parts still available for series III's things like switches, wiper motors, blinker flashers?
    Cheers

There are lots of companies within oz to supply parts but I use www.lrseries.com they are good if you need lots of parts (cheaper than oz) if not try www.fwd.com.au in Victoria

Door top might be hard to come by so keep an eye on ebay

HI and thank you both for those web sites. I have checked out both the UK ones and they are great. I didn't realise I would be able to get so much stuff new. I went to some crazy places in AFG in a 110 SRV and came home so I want to do justice to the Series III restoration in way of a thank you sentimental fool I am.

    Cheers

    Progress update

Well folks progress so far. I recieved the new door top and seal from Brisbane and it is now fitted - see pic. Trouble shooting the lighting has started. I fitted new head lights which now work but only on high beam. daves shop has sent me the headlight wiring upgrade so I will fit that tomorrow. After fitting the head lights the blinkers started working after a fashion. The right is on all the time and the left flashes bright dim flicker off bright dim flicker off so something must be loose there, then again when I finish the headlights the blinkers may fix themselves. Will start removing all the random bits of wiring tomorrow. i am awaiting arrival of bumper, blinker/stop light kit and mirrors from the UK. Thanks for the advice that has got me this far.

The biggest drama and most likely culprit with Lucas electronics are earths. Check all your earths and clean down to bare metal and it will likely sort your electrical dramas.

I was a customer of the place in Blackburn South for 30 years, I now buy series parts from All four X 4 in Kotara, CLR in Winmalee, Land Vehicle Spares in Silverdale, the usual Suspects in the UK and Roverparts plus in Victoria, haven't bought anything from the place in Blackburn South for years.

You won't find me on: faceplant; Scipe; Infragam; LumpedIn; ShapCnat or Twitting. I'm just not that interesting.

    Panel Light switch

This may be a dumb question but the panel light switch what does it do? Dash light?
Thanks for the suggestion regarding the earths I would be much happier if the wiring worked and the engine didn't as I know how to fix the engine.

The panel light switch turns on the instrument panel lights.
