    hard and fast

    Folks,
Having to replace two tappet push rods in my p2.25 S111, Iam having extreme difficulty getting the bolts undone on the tappet gear, which holds it to the head of the motor.I have already twisted 1 half inch socket drive, and the qtr inch drive, just ran to the nearest corner of my basic toobox.

I have used ring spanners and open enders but to no avail.Im not a small bloke and have used more leverage with a pipe on end of spanner, but none seem to want to shift.

I hope they are a right hand thread, not left, but nothing mentioned in workshop manual.
Can anyone please help with a idea.I dont own a torque wrench, and dont know if could even afford one at this point.

    I await with baited breath

They are definitely RH thread. The tensions are not particularly high, and there is no good reason they would be loktited. Is your problem with the 1/2" bolts or the 5/16" ones?

Best guess if it is the ones that go into the block is that they have got some water on the thread, possibly due to a coolant leak in the head gasket, and are rusted in place. You could try moderate heat on the bolt heads. You are unlikely to brake the head bolts, but the smaller ones may break fairly easily.

You could try giving them a bit of a tap with a hammer square on the head.Mite be enough to jar the rust . . .
