Land Rover gear ratios
G'day,
i'm currently in the process of rebuildng a S3 Gearbox for my 2.25 motor.
i have a question regarding the difference between a 4 cylinder Gbox and a 6 cylinder Gbox. Are the ratios the same between the two?
after pulling apart a 2nd donor box from a 6 cyl, it looks the same as my 4cyl one!
cheers,
Chris
AFAIK They're the same except for the bellhousing.

I have found both types of bell housings (bolt patterns) on 4cyl motors! Very confusing & have not been able to find rhyme or reason as to why this was done. I wrecked 4 different LWB 2a & 3 all 4 CYL to find that they had both bolt patterns on the back of the block. This was supposed to be F head and overhaed valve difference. Not so. This was discovered when finding a g/box and bellhousing to do a late 2a box into my 3.
