    v8 upgrade

I have a 1980 series 3 109 ute with a 2.25 petrol engine currently in it (Doris) and I have a 3.5 v8 with a five speed gear box and transfer case out of a 87 RRC. any ideas on how difficult it is going to be to transplant the engine and box into Doris?

Probably not a particularly good idea you may be better to go and buy a Stage 1 and sell yours.
You have the following issues to consider
    1) The chassis will probably need cross members moved around this will need engineering certs
    2) The transmission from the Rangie will be full time 4x4 the Land Rover front end wont be overly happy the Stage 1 went to CVs in the front end the Series never had these.
    3) I presume you will have issues in VIC trying to register it.
    4) You would probably need to change the diffs as the Series had 4.7:1 diffs and the Rangie had 3.54:1 if you dont it will be undergeared.
    5) The Rangie diffs if you have them cant be used in the rear as yours will have a Salisbury diff.

Maybe this is a better idea LANDROVER 1983 SERIES 3 V8 - eBay, Passenger Vehicles, Cars, Cars, Bikes, Boats. (end time 09-Sep-10 14:17:56 AEST)
