    one dim headlight

    Morning all,

    a quick question:

I have one very dim headlight. I got a new globe thinking that was the problem, but nothing changed. It also wont go to high beam. The other headlight is fine.

Any ideas from the brains trust?

    cheers
    Jim

Has it got a good earth?

Do a search on the Pinnacles forums for "relay" and you should find some useful information from JDNSW about fitting relays to the headlights to make them brighter,

    Cheers Charlie

The problem will be a poor connection. There are several likely places, but most likely will be the earth connection, not sure where this is on the S3, but trace the black wire from the light. (Make sure the body panel it is earthed to is properly earthed to the battery negative - run an extra wire if necessary!)Other possibilities will be the joiners where the short harness from the relevant light plugs into the main harness. Unlikely, but quite possible is that the actual socket that connects to the bulb or sealed beam is faulty. This is most likely if higher than standard wattage bulbs have been fitted.

I would be inclined to bypass the problem by fitting a headlight relay(s) adjacent to the lights, between the radiator and the grille being a good spot if protected from splashing.
