POR15 tank sealant works - not cheap though.

If you have some metal jerry cans you can prepare and coat these at the same time as once you open the lid of this product it must be used - it cannot be stored.

Available at most automotive paint places.

I filled the inside of mine up with molasses and water solution and let it work its magic. Then I rinsed it out with water.

Thanks for the info although initially I thought you were taking the ****. How long did you leave your solution slushing about?

I can't find the pics of my fuel tank showing the difference.

Advice sounds simple so I will try the molasses as it sounds the cheaper and less toxic way of dealing with the issue.

I have two 20 litre plastic jerry cans of the stuff that I've been using and reusing for years. I wash stuff out on the lawn and it doesn't kill the grass.

In cold weather it is a lot slower. Sometimes it may take a couple of soaks and washes. One gets a feel for it after a few times.

Sometimes the biggest problem is finding something big enough for the item to be submerged.

Here's my aux tank after half had been treated. Guess which is the rusty bit. The clean bit was just washed and you can see brown staining from fresh rust appearing - it was so clean.

I did the inside as well.

if its really scaley, bout 10-15l of water in it and some 5mm bluemetal then shake it around a fair bit. I usually stick it in a trailer and take it for a fang on a corrigated road rotate at regular intervals then dump the content. Speeds up the molassas treatment for the inside no end.
