Good Morning: Have a 1984 Series 3 109" WB with an extended body...extends about 12" beyond the rear crossmember.....bought in Auckland about a year ago. Some of you were quite helpful in helping me find tailights & general info about my vehicle---Many Thanks!! Now looking for a replacement for a broken chrome door handle. Middle & rear doors have chrome exterior door handles with circular door pockets. Inside of handle is inscribed " AP2 Made in England". Also looking for rear NZ registration plate for my Series 3.......have front rectangular one and believe the rear is square.......perhaps someone makes these up?? Also looking for an original Series 2A 109" WB. Thanks & greetings from the Pacific Northwest.
Found the photo in your other thread. I have a similar station wagon, I'm sure the middle and rear door handles are the same as the front ones, not like these.
I agree, the middle & rear chrome door handles don't look as nice as the original on my front doors. My Rover seems to be a bit of a mutation with the extended body, unusual door pockets on the middle & back doors........and those chrome handles on the middle & rear doors. Have considered getting new middle doors & antiburst handles.......about $1000 here in the States from Rovers North in Vermont. Current project however, is replacing the floor pans. Next project is a respray.
Interestingly, the CarJam report notes the Rover was originally green. When I started to strip the car, I found a nice shiny coat of Limestone under the Green.........so it would appear that Limestone, not Green was the original color.
Thanks for your collective help.............
Terry
The poxy looking chrome handles were probably a stock item from a truck and bus body builders catalogue. The sort of thing a truck body builder would source for a custom built/small run van body for the back of a cab chassis type of thing. Used to be one here in Brisbane many years ago that did the felt window runner channels by the 6 foot length for a fraction of the price Leyparts used to sell it for.
