Sourcing silencer & windscreen for S3 FFR

Diana - As mine currently has the full length system fitted I'll get a roadworthy with that on at some point in the future and then revert to the front mounted exhaust system later on.

Aaron IIA - The FFR, although based on a Land Rover platform, was produced exclusively for the military so I'm not sure whether ADR's are relevant. The issue then becomes whether they should have had a full length system fitted before disposal......or is it a case of 'buyer beware'.

You are sort of correct.

Yes the FFR is based on the standard Land Rover platform. However it was built as an FFR by Land Rover Australia with the front exhaust and after they finished building it they applied the compliance plate, certifying that it complies with the ADR listed on the plate.

The front exhaust system even has Land Rover Part numbers:

• Engine pipe = HYG0164
• Muffler = 562737
• Tail pipe = HYG0165

More than that under NSW Historic Conditional Registration scheme it specifies "Vehicles must be as close to original condition as possible, with NO alterations except for safety features such as seat belts and turn indicators or period accessories and options, if desired." http://www.rta.nsw.gov.au/.../historic_vehicle_clubs_policy.pdf which is pretty clear to me! :)
