I've put in an Electronic Speedo, so tyre size, diff ratio etc is a no issue for me. (I've actually measured the rims on my 74 LWB, and they are 16.5", which is weird) So if I change any of them, it's just a matter of re-calibrating the speedo again.. :thumbsup:

I've also been wanting to mention that there is another way than, to modify the steering (Power Steering). To make it easier when using wide tyres. And that is to modify the top Swivel pin, and replace the Railco bush with a bearing (Exactly the same as the bottom one) It's just as strong, and the steering is light, as if you have power steering..
You can get the modified Swivel pins from Land Vehicle Spares, at Silverdale (Sydney) .. Brian, can help you with cost and availability..
I'll be doing mine, as soon as my (Other) parts arrive.. As I want to do the mod, and other stuff all in one hit..

I've got BFG A/T's in a 7.50x16.
Excellent tyre and last for ages.
16.5" if you measure outside (lip-lip). The correct way to measure is between tyre mounting surfaces. Which will be 16".Quote:

Over the weekend as an experiment, I've changed the wheels over from my County with Roadian MT 235/85 x16 tyres onto the Series and vice versa.
The improvement in ride etc in the Series was amazing, the County however now rides and handles terrible :eek: It seems the back end wants to overtake the front round bends and the noise from the tyres above 80kph is dreadful.
I'll certainly be getting a set of the 235/85 x16 tyres for the Series 3.
Not surprising. The SP road grippers are radial and the MRFs are bias. Mixing bias and radials are not a good idea - especially on a coiller.Quote:

So are the MRF tyres crossply ?? Like you say mixing tyres not a good idea, I wonder why the previous owner purchased them :confused: It seems they are filled with concrete too and would probably explain why some rivets have gone missing on the back end of the Series 3 :D
