    Gearbox Reverse Gear bearing removal

Ive taken the reverse gear out of the gearbox to replace the needle roller bearing that is inside the gear. There are 2 inner spring clips that hold the bearing in and have no eyelets to enable use of circlip pliers.

i have a new bearing in the kit but no securing clips. Supplier says those clips are not available.

Ive tried using jewellers screwdrivers and assorted techniques and they wont come out. Theres some serious tension in those small clips.

Anyone come across this before? This gearbox has been cooked at some point in its life so I need to get a new bearing in.

The clip is out but needed 2 people, one to prevent the clip from slipping and the other to pick and pry it out. In saying that it took about an hr with 2 people. Not to mention the 4hrs I spent solo on it. I hope its all worth it!

It is a Suffix C box, the casing has a webbed look inside and the reverse gear has a needle roller bearing on a 1" shaft. It could be a different casing? It had military markings on it.

It had been rebuilt a couple of times. i had to replace the mainshaft and all gears and synchro as the gearbox was run dry and it basically wore out, cooked and sheared bits as they do. Surprising layshaft in good nick. W
