    Exhaust Extractors for 2.25 Petrol

Looking at putting a set of extractors onto my L/Weight Series 3 Petrol.

Has anyone got them on theirs and are they worth it?

Have been quoted $600.00 including fitting + the vehicle being Dyno'd before and after.

Yes. I think they're brilliant. They made a huge difference to mine. But I haven't bothered with a dyno so can't quote figures.

    Hi.

I have extractors on a 2.25 petrol in a 71 SWB 2A. The motor was rebuilt upon purchase, and extractors were fitted around 7,000 km later.

The extractors were fitted with a 2 1/4 inch system that has a resonator and large chamber muffler and follows the route of the original exhaust system.

It did make a noticeable difference to the car. It seems to breath a bit easier and requires marginally less throttle to achieve or maintain similar speeds.

But, I did not pay for new extractors and paid a lot less than $600. My total did hit that amount with new exhaust though.

I think it is worth it if you can afford it, and intend on holding onto the car for a long time. I am also keen to see the dyno results!

same subject as before, more info.

    Hi All

There has been a recent thread on 2.25 headers / extractors.

I won't repeat that info, but will add, ( the only con that I'm aware of ), was one chaps front PTO driven winch shaft was fouled, were it passed the extractors.
To rectify this it was necessary to cut the shaft, fit a bearing block and another universal joint near the middle of the length of the shaft.

    Cheers Arthur

I thought all the PTO winch shafts had a centre bearing block and UJ....??
