Thread: Carby problem

Have you check the oil level in the carby?, ( It works on the same principal as the SU carby) screw the black knob off the top and see if its dry,If so use a light grade of oil I use sewing machine oil, also the rubber diaphram inside the top of the body may need replaceing.

What level does the oil need to come to. Its low but not dry. The diaphragm appears fine

Does it sound like fuel stavation and isn't water contamination of the petrol?

Is the fuel getting past the filter ok? to find that out, a good place to start is at the carby, by undoing the fuel line at that point.
Be careful! use a container to catch any splashes.

Turn the ignition on briefly to the run position and listen to hear if the electric pump is beating quickly and look to see if the petrol flow from the pump is ok.

With fuel flowing freely up to where it enters the carby, check inside that coupling to see if there is a gauze filter, clean it as it may be dirty.

If there is no gauze filter at that point, you will need to look at the needle and seat and clean or replace it as necessary.

Do all that and report back with what you find, Good luck.

About half fill the tube then replace the plunger any excess oil will come out the top, thats the way I have allways done it. Always start with the simple things first them if they dont work dig deeper into things like Aurther has suggested in his post.

HI LtRover, I had a similar problem with Romeo One (S111 1980 FFR) it turned out that the throttle linkage had come apart just behind and below the Carby, the retaining clip was a bit worn, clipped it back in and away it went
