County doors on a series 3 stage 1

    Hi Guys
im building up a stage 1 to a bit of a custom beast, and i want to county doors as i already have them and the original ones are "flimsy" due to rust
I was wondering if i have to do anything other than just fit county latches to the pillars?

    Cheers

Ill post pics once its done

The door checks are different - the County has the sliding on the bulkhead, the Series 3 has it in the door. You will have to get the door check bits for a County - I think the mounting boltholes are the same as the Series 3. Defender bits may fit, I'm not sure, or the alternative is to make something.

Yes they will fit straight on as long as you use the county latches and as John said use the county check rod. I had a set on a S3 and they are a big improvement on the originals.

That is a matter of opinion! I regularly drive a County and a S2a with S3 doors - and I have difficulty making up my mind on this subject. Certainly they are different, but big improvement - no. The County doors are much heavier, and more prone to rattles. They are also thicker, giving less elbow room. Certainly they have windup windows, but as against that you can't take the door tops off. Perhaps worth noting though that the doors on my 2a have deluxe trim!
