    Question Series Steering Relay

On a 1974 series 3 does the steering relay have a filler hole for oil?
Or should it be packed with grease from assembly?
My manual doesn't state much about it.

    Cheers, Mick.

The filler hole for oil was, I think, dropped during Series 2 production, but, of course it is always possible (but unlikely - they are rarely changed) your Series 3 has an early relay fitted. Later ones are filled with oil by removing two opposite bolts from the top cover, using one as a filler and the other as a vent.

Grease should not be used in steering relays as it pushes off the bearing surfaces leaving them unlubricated and subject to wear. Oil soaks into the tufnol bushes, providing continuous lubrication.
